Hyper Horology

Few brands are breathing Avant-Garde in horology the way Roger Dubuis does. Hyper Horology does not only refer to the horological and technical marvel they bring in their watches. It certainly refers also to their design, which bridges horology and art in a very natural and self-confident way. Roger Dubuis triggers the imagination, and every single model in recent years is a piece of art.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up” at Watches and Wonders 2021

During Watches and Wonders 2021 the brand takes the occasion to make the Art component a bit more explicit. Roger Dubuis announced a partnership with two Urban creative artists. Under the concept “Urban Art Tribe” LA Tattoo artist Dr. Woo and French street artist Gully enter a long-term collaboration. The goal is to share elements of their creative process with clients of the brand. More to follow on this.

Luminescent diamonds

The Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up”, that is presented this week, is a more visual example of Hyper Horology at work. Roger Dubuis is the first to feature luminescent diamonds in different colors in the bezel of the watch. Roger Dubuis patended two processes to make this work. First, a luminescent material is placed in the grooves underneath the diamond, that keeps the diamonds in place. The second patent has to do with a process of painting components on the movement. This allows the movement to shine and highlight the star-shaped bridge in the dark.

Northern light

Imagine a situation where its fully dark, while your Excalibur is shining its movement, supported by a colorful, glowing diamond-set bezel. Witnessing the Northern Light was already on my bucket list. Wearing a Glow Me Up in the dark was just added to that..

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up” Limited to 8 pieces

However, witnessing the Northern Light will probably be more achievable as the Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up”. This timepiece will retail at $ 215,000. Only 8 customers will have the privilege of their own, highly exclusive Glow in the Dark party.

Roger Dubuis did it again. In their own natural way they easily bridge the gap between High end horology and Art.

When Hublot was founded in 1980 the brand brought something new to the conservative watch industry.
