Chopard L.U.C’s sound of eternity

For watches and wonders 2022, swiss manufacture Chopard is releasing not one, but three different chiming L.U.C timepieces!

During Watches and Wonders 2022, Chopard launched three chiming timepieces. The Chopard L.U.C Strike One, L.U.C Full Strike Tourbillon and the L.U.C Full Strike Sapphire.

Chopard further distingquished this trio of amazing pieces by differences in the complications and case materials. This makes each of them an exclusive stand alone piece. Each of the three pieces chimes have undergone a detailed analysis by the violinist and cellist brother Renaud and Gautier Capuçon. The bothers perfected the acoustic adjustment of the watches.

Sapphire gong

With the Chopard L.U.C Strike One, the brand is reimagining their minute repeater mechanism into a piece that simply chimes the passing of the hours by using a hammer on a patented monobloc sapphire gong. This hammer is visible through the opening of the solid gold ruthenium gray dial. You can see the brand’s signature honeycomb engraving at one o’clock. Chopard made the case of ethically sourced rose gold, that perfectly fits the gray dial and leather strap.

The chiming mechanism can be activated or deactivated using the pusher implemented into the winding crown. With a power reserve of 65 hours, that is wound through an automatic winding mechanism, the watch offers plenty of power. Nevertheless, it is still maintaining very wearable proportions of 40mm in diameter and 9.8mm in height.

Limited to 25 pieces.

Chopard L.U.C Full Strike Tourbillon

Most exclusive complication

As the name suggests, the Full Strike Tourbillon incorporates the brand’s full minute repeater mechanism. The meganism is now extended by the implementation of the tourbillon complication. Made of ethical rose gold, this 42.5mm hand winding timepiece combines two of the most exclusive complications in the world of haute horlogerie.

The two power reserve indicators at two o’clock display the remaining power for the repeater mechanism, as well as the rest of the movement. Such as with the Strike One, the Full Strike Tourbillon uses a monobloc sapphire gong. Furthermore, the tourbillon bridge on the dial side of the watch is also made of sapphire. This bridge allows the wearer to see the delicate tourbillon mechanism at work. Through an additional large opening at 10 o’clock, the full strike mechanism is also visible.

Limited to 20 pieces.

The last and most impressive of the three new repeater watches is without the Full Strike sapphire. This timepiece implements the breathtaking Full Strike movement into a sapphire case. Therefore it shows the full inner workings of this delicate complication.

Sapphire has always been used with the Full Strike models for the monobloc gong. But with the case, made of sapphire offers a never before seen view on the full movement. To complete the transparent appearance, Chopard also made the crown and repeater actuating pusher from sapphire.

Alike the other novelties shown in this article, the Full Strike Sapphire bears the Poinçon de Genève. This complication further exemplifies the exclusive horological significance of this watch.

Limited to 5 pieces.
