The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport

TAG Heuer reinvents the bold Extreme Sports, and the 2024 versions come as Carrera Chronograph and as a Tourbillon.

Since its inception in 2016 the Carrera Extreme Sport has been the more racy version of the Carrera. Whereas the Carrera would be a Porsche 911, the Extreme Sport can be regarded as the RS counterpart. More bold, more techy, more speed. Today TAG Heuer launches a new iteration. The Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport comes in 4 different versions, 3 in titanium and 1 in gold, and the Tourbillon will be available in titanium and gold.

The 2024 Extreme Sport has the goal of deepen the connection with the brands racing DNA, and that really works. The watches breathe raciness, and what catches the eye rather quickly is the case construction and the way the rubber strap is seamlessly blended with case and lugs. It looks fantastic, and you really have to see the blue or red version to have the full contrasting effect.

Moving to the dial the skeletonized dial one has a good view on some of the elements of the Calibre TH20-00 movement, while the open-worked date disc brings some racing association. The movement is an evolution of TAG Heuers in-house Heuer 02, and boasts an 80-hour power reserve.

The blue and red versions will be available at 8,000 Swiss francs, while the black one costs 200 more. The rose gold version with black ceramic bezel is not even that much more expensive at 12,000 and the tourbillon comes in titanium and red gold, priced 25,500 and 32,000 Swiss francs respectively.

One of the first brands I visited in Geneva when I got professionally involved in watches, it must have been early 2014, was Breva. I still recall visiting a rather anonymous office building where founder Vincent Dupontreue and his team just moved in to conquer the horological world with quite impressive pieces. What about a […]

Back in 2020 the Streamliner was launched and almost instantly it was clear that this would be a success for Moser.
