It’s complicated and beautiful! The Glashütter brand A. Lange und Söhne is going through a growing appreciation among watch fans and collectors lately.

The Glashütter brand A. Lange und Söhne is going through a growing appreciation among watch fans and collectors lately. On all sides the brand is doing well, with a successful entry in the steel sports watch market and early Lange 1’s finally getting the collector recognition these icons deserve.

Today the success story continues with three novelties: two on the Lange 1 theme and a high complication. Starting with the first, the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar has that instant “wow” factor. Adding a perpetual calendar to the Lange 1 family is a natural move and the execution feels quite natural, with the outsize date ring indicating dates. The 41,9mm in pink gold with a grey dial will become part of the regular collection, and a limited run of 150 will be made in white gold with a solid pink gold dial. The latter is, in my humble opinion, a watch to die for. What a stunning piece!

A. Lange und Söhne – Little Lange 1 Moon Phase

The second novelty is the Little Lange 1 Moon Phase. With a case size of 36,8 mm and gold-flux dial, giving the impression of thousands of twinkling stars, this is a little and precious gem. The moonphase is adding to the magic, calculated to remain accurate for 122,6 years. Aside the white gold version a second version is presented, with a bezel set with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.

High Complications

When it comes to high complications, A. Lange und Söhne has a reputation to defend. The Triple Split, originally presented in 2018, has certainly added to this, being a technical tour de force: the only split second chronograph that can measure additional times for as long as twelve hours. Imagine the coolness of tracking multi-hour events such as a car race or triathlon with your Triple Split. Today, a second variation is presented in pink gold with a blue dial and rhode subsidiary dials. With subtle red accents in the sub-dials the watch adds a different touch, compared to the white gold 2018 version.

The price for superior quality

When It comes to finances, we know that the superior quality and innovative watchmaking skills from Glashütte comes at a price. However, in today’s market 98.000 euros for the Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar is certainly justified, as is 159.400 euros for the Triple Split in being the unique complication it is. And you know, the value remains long after the price has been forgotten..
