For Watches & Wonders 2022, Montblanc is introducing a bold new watch to the 1858 collection focussed around sports diving. Inspired by the glacial lakes of the Mont-Blanc massif this new collection boasts different varieties of ISO 6425 compliant divers. We introduce you the Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date.
Visual depth on the Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date
The dial of the new Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea watches is what will captivate you the most, as it recreates one’s look into the depth of a glacier. This design feature took a lot of research and development. Montblanc took on the difficult task of creating visual depth in a 0.5mm thin dial.
Gratté Boisé
However, the developers at Montblanc were up to the challenge and found a technical solution able to create the impression of depth and luminosity. Montblanc achieved this by an ancestral technique called gratté boisé, that is used for creating the base of the dial and allows to create the frozen and detailed look.
Tapered steel bracelet
Montblanc offers the 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date in three different colours – black, blue and green. Each of these comes in a 41mm stainless steel case with the respectively coloured frozen dial. Further enhancing the colour of each watch, the bezel is made of a matching bi-colour ceramic inlay. Furthermore, the watches are equipped with a tapering steel bracelet, that can be easily exchanged with a fitting black rubber strap.
The Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea, a true diver
With a water resistance of 300m, date function at three, uni-directional rotating bezel, as well as bold luminous indexes and plenty of lume on the hands, the new Montblanc Iced Sea is a great versatile sports watch and a true diver for glacial lakes, as well as the mediterranean sea.
