Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200M Summer Blue
Omega chose the Greek island of Mykonos to present their 75th anniversary collection of the Seamaster. With a sea blue as the dominating color several new editions were launched and the re-issue of the PloProf 1200M Summer Blue really stands out. The unique shape and size doesn’t make it a watch for the faint-hearted: assymetrical, oversized and the odd crown placement are just a few characteristics to describe the unique personality of this watch. To spend €15,300 on a summer watch is quite something but you will enjoy it. One bummer: the new PloProf will be available in November, so Summer 2024 it is…
Norqain Wild One Skeleton Turquoise
The colour of the Norqain makes you instantly start looking for a pool to jump in. Everything breathes freedom, sun and holiday in this watch that also happens to have interesting shock-absorbing capabilities. The Norqain brand comes with a lot of fresh and healthy vibes anyway, and I can totally see myself wearing this 42mm stunner while entering the beach club. The CHF 5,250 watch weighs only 78 grams which is a big plus for an ultimate summer watch.
Tissot Sideral
Just in time for the 2023 summer season Tissot launched a new fresh collection of the Sideral. A re-design of the original 1971 version, the worlds first fiberglass watch, the 2023 Sideral Powermatic 80 comes in yellow, red and blue, all carrying an 80-hour power reserve automatic movement. The 41mm forged carbon case, the rubber strap (almost a necessity for a good summer watch) and the vibrant colors make the Sideral as serious option for a summer watch. As usual the value for money Tissot brings is excellent and the $995 retail price makes this watch an offer that’s difficult to refuse.
Moser Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Boutique edition
If your holiday plans are more Monaco than Mallorca, more Café de Paris lunches than Waterpark trips and your budget is above average the Moser Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Boutique edition might be your choice. The $66,000 sports watch with integrated bracelet that brought the company a break-through now comes in solid 5N red gold with a fantastic green dial and on a black rubber strap. A conversation piece on every terrace where you will enjoy your chardonnay. And should you feel the urge to touch the water no worries, the watch is water resistant up to 120 meters.
Maurice Lacroix Aikon Masterpiece Grand Date Technicolor
Maurice Lacroix must have had summer beaches and sunshine in their minds when choosing the colors for the Masterpiece Grand Date Technicolor. The 45mm Black DLC-coated stainless steel watches comes in 4 vibrant colors: blue, green, orange and yellow. The off-center dial design with big date window and visible balance wheel give the watch a touch of complexity, as if Glashutte watchmaking legitimacy is added to a sports summer watch. The CHF 8,790 price tag is steep but let’s not spoil the summer optimism.
The No Summer Without a G-Shock option
No summer watch write-up is complete without the ultimate summer watch. The G-Shock turns 40 this year and my choice would be the Frogman 30th anniversary GWFA1000APF1
